Malwarebytes Web Protection Review

Malwarebytes has plenty going for it, but there are some problems that prevent it from being the best choice for all users. It charges more for a single-device subscription than its rivals. It’s also not as powerful in terms of features as some others.

Malwarebytes comes with multiple layers of protection, including web protection and ransomware protection. It also offers malware and adware protection, as well as detection and removal. It also has excellent real-world security capabilities, with results from AV Comparatives testing that consistently place it among the top software in its class (August 2022 to October 2022).

Paid subscribers are able to access all of these features and more. They can manage the program’s settings by clicking on the corkscrew icon in the bottom-right corner on their dashboard. This opens a tab with seven sections that let you alter the program to your preferences. These include notifications, how often and in what instances it checks for threat intelligence updates various scan options, and several other visual preferences, like the theme.

The premium version of the program comes with advanced features, such as exploit protection, which blocks attacks that take advantage of weaknesses and bugs in software and systems. Malwarebytes can also detect and block browser lockers, block in-browser cryptojackers and block other scams that attempt to steal your data or money from your account online. It also can identify and stop phishing sites. It’s unfortunate that it’s not equipped with the same level of identity theft protection some of its competitors offer however, that could be changed soon as it recently acquired Cyrus Security, a company that offers those services.
